GOODBYE CLASSPASS: tHE REASONS WHY
We wanted to take a moment to share why we’ve made the decision to cut back on the number of classes available through ClassPass, with the goal of eventually coming off the platform completely. ClassPass has been a wonderful way for people to discover Wilder Studios, and we’re truly grateful it’s helped bring so many of you through our doors.
This isn’t a decision we wanted to make, but one we felt we had no choice but to make. Unfortunately, ClassPass aren’t willing to listen, negotiate, or be flexible with their rules and conditions, which has left us unable to make it work in a way that would allow the studio to stay open and keep running classes while remaining on their platform.
Here’s a little insight into why we’re stepping away from ClassPass:
- We get very little income from bookings – For every booking made through ClassPass, we receive a very small payment. And for anyone on their “£1 for one month” offer, we receive zero income. It takes at least 10 ClassPass bookings per class just to cover the instructor’s pay for that class.
- We have no control over the number of spots available on ClassPass – We don’t have the ability to reduce the number of ClassPass spots to balance them with direct bookings. If we had the ability to do this, we might have been able to stay on but ClassPass doesn’t allow this flexibility.
- We have no control over credit value – We don’t decide how many credits it costs to book a class at Wilder Studios through ClassPass. Even if they increase the credits required, we don’t receive any extra income.
- We get no benefit from late cancellation or no-show fees – Any fees charged by ClassPass for late cancellations or no-shows go straight to ClassPass, not to the studio. We don’t receive any part of those fees.
Wilder Studios was opened to share the love for Pilates, to help people move better, and to create a welcoming, supportive community. We wanted to build a safe, inclusive space where people can move, learn, connect, and feel better in themselves. But we also need to make decisions that allow us to keep the doors open and keep delivering quality classes for the long term.
If you want to continue your practice with us, we’d love for you to reach out so we can chat about membership options that work for you. We’d be so happy to help you keep moving with us at Wilder Studios. Please email hello@thewilderstudios.com
Thank you for your support and understanding. We really hope to keep seeing you in the studio!
Warmly,
Wilder Studios
